Detroit for Valentine's Day

We've left the East Coast and started our trek across the country. First stop: Detroit, Michigan. Detroit is the home of American cars and Motown music (the word "Motown" is a portmanteau of "motor" and "town"). After taking a quick look around the remains of historic downtown Detroit, we stopped to listen to some music.

Some of us classes reviewed the American alphabet and numbers with the Jackson 5's famous "ABC." Others kept an ear out for the months, the seasons, and major holidays in Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You."

Of course, once we had learned the words to these songs, we had to sing them! Here we are singing and dancing our way through Detroit:

Because February 14 was Valentine's Day, we also made some car-themed Valentines for our loved ones. We wrote little messages in them, like "I love you," "Be mine," and "Happy Valentine's Day."

To get into the holiday mood, we also read some very cute English books about Valentine's Day: Never Too Little to Love and The Day It Rained Hearts (in Detroit). We had some help from our newest intern, Natalie, as well.

Last but not least, we all took turns wearing the heart glasses!

See you next week in Chicago!
